Rules
The Rules of Participation:
Well, they aren’t so much “rules” as “guidelines” or “methods” for carrying out the project. Here’s how it will go…
- Initial recipients for the green roof modules (GRM) will be identified (probably about 5 or 6 in different neighborhoods across the city.)
- With the assistance of those individuals, the building landlords will be contacted and the project will be explained to them. We will gain approval from the landlords to place the GRM on the rooftop.
- The initial recipient must then identify 2-3 other people in their neighborhood who are interested in receiving the GRM (this can be achieved through different methods:
- the recipients talking to people in the neighborhood about the project and getting them interested
- someone noticing the GRM on a specific street and contacting me, referencing that location and claiming interest in having a GRM
- online - badges will be created for LinkedIn and Facebook, shareable to others who would like to home the GRMs
- The secondary recipients will assist in contacting the landlords and achieving approval for placing the GRMs.
- Repeat from #3.
The paths of the networks will be followed online through mapping software. There are a couple of general rules (guidelines) for those wishing to participate:
- Interest in placing a GRM on your rooftop.
- Willingness to work with your landlord in securing approval for placement.
- Willingness to seek out additional parties interested in GRM’s - thus growing your own community of individuals interested in climate issues.
- If possible (and with landlord’s approval) hosting a small planting party to show other interested parties the GRM.
- Willingness (and approval from landlord) to post a sign at street level regarding the GRM.
It’s really not that hard.
The purpose of including all of this information is twofold, A) find interested parties, B) make the information available for potential replication of the project in other parts of the world.
